Bil’in people celebrated the demolition and the removal of the old apartheid wall today. To the celebration, called by Bil’in Popular Committee Against the Wall, Settlements and Occupation, came a member of the Central Committee of Fatah, Mr. Abbas Zaki member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement, Qais Abu Laila, member of the Democratic Front, Hisham Abu Raya, member of the Palestinian Liberation Front, Fadwa Barghouti, and Dr. Sabri Saydam members of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah; the Deputy Governor of Ramallah and Al Bireh, Mr. Hamdan Barghouti; a member of the leadership of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mr. Nassif Adeek,and Mr. Salah Al-Khawaja; and many of the leaders and supporters of the Palestinian national movement, and the people of the village of Bil’in , along with hundreds of Israeli and foreigner peace activists, in solidarity.
The residents made Friday prayers on the liberated territories at noon. Afterwards, they walked, along with the other participants, to the liberated territories, chanting patriotic, Palestinian folk roots and national songs, calling for unity and rejecting all differences, confirming the need to uphold the constants of Palestinian resistance to occupation and the release of all prisoners, besides freedom for Palestine.
Marking the popular celebration of the demolition and the removal of the wall, and the beginning of a popular resistance’s new phase in Bil’in village, the youths danced the Tbekh and many inhabitants helped to build the first house on the liberated territories. It is the nucleus of a cluster of houses that will be built there, called Bil’in Bank. It also marked the farming and the cultivation of our lands there.
Mr. Abbas Zaki, during his speech, congratulated Bil’in people, in particular, and Palestinian people, in general, and dedicate this victory to the spirit of the village’s martyrs, the two Abu Rahmah’s brothers killed in 2009 and 2011, Bassem and Jawaher, and the martyrs of Palestinian people. He also appealed to the Palestinian National Authority, and civil society institutions, to support Bil’in people’s steadfastness and to help the reconstruction, the construction and the planting on liberated territories, and appealed to our Palestinian people to have the same experience on the sites affected by the wall and the settlements, even defeating the occupation and the establishment of a Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Israeli occupation authorities released yesterday the child Mahmoud Alaa Samara (16 years) after five months in prison and a payment of NIS 2,000. Mahmoud was made prisoner because of his participation in the weekly marches in the village
